Players who played previous slots in the series will find the visuals quite familiar. Once again, Play’n GO opts for a simple, space-themed background. It makes sense, given that the theme of Gigantoonz is all about colorful, cute aliens. The background has a few minor animations. So minor that you might end up missing them unless you are paying attention. Considering how much focus the reels and icon designs get, it is easy to forget the little details.
The various colorful aliens form all the standard symbols present in the game. The one-eyed green and yellow aliens are the least valuable icons. They are worth 10x for a thirty-plus cluster win. On the opposite end is the two-eyed red-yellow alien. If you are lucky enough to score thirty or more of that symbol, you will receive a 2,500x payout. You achieve wins by landing six or more matching icons into a cluster. Symbols are considered in a cluster if they are touching horizontally or vertically.
A swirling orb of energy is a Quantum Wild. Gargantoon also makes an appearance in this release. He is a Wild and can only appear through the Quantumeter bonus. For all the promotions Gigantoonz offers, it only needs these two special icons. All other bonuses are activated by filling the Quantumeter or are triggered randomly.
Gigantoonz Bonuses
Cascading reels are a staple of the Toonz series. When a win happens, symbols that were part of the winning cluster disappear. Existing icons fall to fill the gaps while brand new symbols appear from the top of the board. This allows players to land multiple wins with just one bet.
Every non-winning round can randomly add between five and ten quantum Wilds on the board. This increases the odds of winning. Every time a mega icon wins, it creates a quantum Wild.
Mega symbols can appear as a 2×2, 3×3, 4×4, 5×5, 6×6, or a 7×7 icon. Despite the size, each mega symbol has a random cluster value up to a maximum of thirteen. Mega icons count as a single symbol, but their cluster value is used to determine the payout for the win.
Each winning icon counts as one charge towards filling the Quantumeter. Mega symbol wins add their cluster value to filling the Quantumeter. The meter has four charge levels and holds up to 100 charges.
- 25 charges grant Disintegration. It removes all instances of 4 randomly selected icons.
- 50 charges award Metamorphosis. It transforms all instances of one symbol into a different icon, including mega symbols.
- 75 charges unlock Radiation. Radiation adds one to four mega icons and two to five quantum Wilds randomly.
- 100 charges receive Gargantoonz. First, all mega symbols turn into mega Gargantoonz. At least three Gargantoonz are guaranteed to appear. You also unlock between two to four 1×1 Gargantoonz icons. Mega Gargantoonz is not removed with wins. The Mega Gargantoonz eventually break up into 1×1 Gargantoonz symbols, which can be removed normally.

If you are looking for a highly volatile slot, you should keep this one in your mind. As we already mentioned, the 4,000x top prize is relatively low for the Toonz series. We find this somewhat disappointing since Play’n GO did not decrease the volatility to account for the lower jackpot. Do not get us wrong, the top prize is not bad. At the same time, we know the developers offered better jackpots in previous games.
One area we have no complaints about is the return to player. With an RTP of 96.25%, this release is above average.
After playing it for a while, we can safely say we enjoyed our time with Gigantoonz. Its new additions are fun. However, the lower payouts were somewhat disappointing.
