The exception here is the scatter symbol – all symbols are substituted by the wild apart from the scatter, which you’ll need to land in true numbers in order to trigger any scatter bonuses.
The scatter symbol here is the gold coin, and landing three or more of these will trigger the main bonus feature. There’s also a scatter pay awarded depending on the number of these you land on any given spin – land 6 and you’re on to the highest payout the game has to offer, at 10,000 coins.
