If you get tired of classic table games, game shows are always a great option to inject some fun into playing at live dealer tables. Usually, people think of Evolution whenever someone mentions this. However, Playtech has been making strides in recent years. Their portfolio features a plethora of great entertainment games, such as Deal or No Deal: The Big Draw and Adventures Beyond Wonderland

With the Money Drop Live, the gameshow family gets another member. Recently released, this unique piece of software has garnered some pretty strong reactions. Some people think it’s impossible to play, while others resort to betting techniques that are considered to be in the grey area. What is without a doubt is that Money Drop Live is a hit. That’s why we want to take a deep dive and see what this game is made of. Ready?

How Does Money Drop Live Work?

Playtech’s newest game is unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. In the iGaming industry, that is. Money Drop Live is, in fact, based upon The £100K Drop, a famous British game show. In it, contestants engaged in battles, but with a lot of twists. The game goes for Playtech’s software adaptation of it. Now, take a look at how the whole thing works and how to understand it:

  • The Money Drop Live wheel has 54 sections. 51 of those have various multipliers on them, while the other 3 require you to play a card game called Card Clash (more on it in a bit).
  • There are 7 kinds of multipliers: 8x, 15x, 30x, 100x, 250x, 1,000x, and 2,500x. Before the wheel spins, you can bet on one of the multipliers. If the wheel stops at one of the multipliers you’ve placed a bet on, you will be given an amount of money equal to your bet multiplied by the number on the section. So, if you bet £10 on 250x, and it stops right there, you get £2,500. Sometimes, the AI behind the game will randomly give out a DOUBLE sign, which means you get an additional 2x multiplier. Theoretically, you can have 5,000x your initial bet under your control at any given moment.
  • Now, as amazing as this sounds, you don’t actually get the money. Instead, you have to go through the Money Drip Round. Here, you have to place the amount of money given onto four platforms. Three of them will drop at the end of the round, only leaving you with the winnings if you pick the right one.
  • The 8x multiplier doesn’t give you the option of distributing the money however you want. Instead, you have to pick a platform outright, without any other input before the round ends. This is because these sections are the dominant number in the wheel, so there’s always a high chance of landing 8x.
  • To make things even harder for players, 100x and 250x require you to go through TWO rounds of Money Drop, while 1,000x and 2,500x will rinse your balance THREE times to see if you have the chops to distribute the money wisely. This does sound unlikely, but there are strategies that make consistent winnings a possibility.
  • If you thought that was tough, there’s also the requirement of keeping your money intact for 2 spins of the wheel, which can effectively eliminate you if you get a multiplier higher than 100x. The more Money Drop rounds you have to go through, the less cash you’ll end up with.
  • Card Clash is basically an RNG-based version of war, one of the most popular card games in the world. You pick red or black. The computer-powered dealer gives both you and the computer a card that’s correspondent with your pick. If you pick red, and you get the strongest card in 2 out of 3 rounds, you can get up to 95x if you win three games. Other scenarios yield a lot less money.

How to Play Money Drop Live

The thing about Money Drop Live is that you can affect your personal outcome much more than it seems initially. You just pick the sections you believe the wheel might stop on. Money Drop is where you’re in complete control, and having a wise spreading strategy can help you get your bet back without much trouble. Think about what you want to accomplish playing Money Drop Live and have fun with it.

Best Strategies for Money Drop Live

If we had to recommend one strategy, it would be the following:

  1. Bet on every section, but keep the smaller amounts on 8x and anything above 100x. While you won’t feel the loss and can certainly get your wage back, it’s a small price to pay for a chance to win big.
  2. When doing the Money Drop round, think about spreading the money evenly between the four platforms. Avoid betting on 8x too much due to the sudden death approach. You can also take a slightly bigger risk by focusing on just three platforms and putting 30-35% on each.

Keep in mind that this is an RNG-controlled game. Only the wheel-spinning part gives you some live action. Everything else is the result of nice animations and a bit of RNG behind the scenes. Because the game is so challenging, that makes it even more fun to beat.

Should You Play Money Drop Live?

We all know that the risk factor is always important when you’re playing live game shows. Money Drop Live brings this to a completely new level. Playtech ‘gives’ you the money without even doing anything other than picking the right section of the wheel. The real fun begins when you have to go through two mini-games. Not only is this Playtech hit completely fair, but it also makes you guess and think for a bit. That’s the crux of our Money Drop Live review. It’s not a game for everyone, but you need to try it out before jumping to conclusions. It’s something else!
